With the new Sunday Mass time of 9:30 am, our Sunday worship will have an unfamiliar feel to it. What will Sunday mornings look like from this point forward?
Re-envisioning Sunday morning at St. John of the Cross is an endeavor to encourage the entire parish to think in terms of “the Lord’s Day” and to revitalize our spirits with the celebration of the Eucharist and strengthen fellowship thus creating a welcoming environment to all parishioners and visitors who pass through the doors of the church.
As Saint John Paul II wrote in “The Day of the Lord:”
“Sharing in the Eucharist is the heart of Sunday, but the duty to keep Sunday holy cannot be reduced to this.” ….. (#52)
This invitation to Re-envision Sunday mornings at St. John of the Cross is being extended to every parishioner. We are encouraging everyone to “open our time to Christ” a little more fully each week by remaining for a time after 9:30 a.m. Mass. This after-Mass opportunity will allow all of us to get to know each other better by sharing coffee, tea, and a continental type of breakfast.
We hope everyone will take advantage of the opportunity to deepen our Sunday Mass experience as we continue to build our faith community. We are asking parishioners to bake or bring light breakfast pastries, breads, fruits or other breakfast snacks to share. Coffee, tea, water, and juice will be provided.
The Legion of Mary will also be reciting the rosary after the Mass and occasionally we will invite a guest speaker to discuss various topics such as living the life of faith in a time of change and more.
So please join us as we re-discover the meaning of the Lord’s day.
Peace and Love in Christ,
Deacon Tom

New Sunday Mass begins December 3 at 9:30 am. Knight of Columbus will host a pancake breakfast after the Mass.
St. John of the Cross has a beautiful Bocce Court right here on the parish grounds. Our Bocce Leagues play June-August. There is a Women’s League that plays on Wednesday nights, and a Couples’ League that plays on Friday nights. We are always looking for more players. This is a wonderful way to enjoy the sport and to meet other parishioners. Hope to see you on the courts!
Collection Counters serve the parish by working together in teams counting the gifts received at Mass through the collection. Each team counts once every 4 weeks so the time commitment is approximately 2 hours per month on Monday mornings. A desire to help the parish, work as part of a team and volunteer a few hours during the month are the only qualifications.
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic, family, fraternal, service organization. Providing many fraternal benefits to members, and opportunities for our members to make a difference in the lives of our families, Church, and communities. Our newly formed council 15737 is in an exciting period of growth and development as families come together in faith and fellowship to make a difference. Our programs include youth and family events, supporting special requests of our Pastor and assisting in the church, supporting the culture of life, and much more.
The St. Fiacre Ministry cares for the grounds that surround the
buildings on our parish property and helps to keep our grounds beautiful. Families or groups of individuals can adopt a small section in which to plant or help in the overall care of the grounds.
